BCCI accepting the Bids on the IPL media right for the next years after the 2018. Bids for Digital rights is for the 5 years and the Broadcast rights is for the 10 years. There 18 big companies of India and outside India who wants to bid for this. Star India, Sony Pictures Networks, Times Internet, Supersport International, Reliance Jio Digital Services, Interactive Media, Taj TV India, Gulf DTH, GroupM Media India, BeIN IP, Econet Media, Sky UK, BTG Legal Services, BT PLC, Amazon, Facebook, Twitter and ESPN Digital Media. This proved the power of the IPL in the Indian market and foreign market too as few US giants also wants to bid for the Digital rights. IPL is Indian domestic lague but in last 9 years it became as brand and it became big and popular like a English Premier league for the Cricket. There are so many other leagues are playing all around the world and so many big players also participates in those league but they are not able to make that much presence in the market as IPL has now. BCCI chief executive Rahul Johri said : "In our country television is very well established," he said. "If you look at most cricket tenders, eight years-ten years have been the norm. That's why we went for 10 years. The area where trends are changing very fast is digital, that's why we have reduced digital to five years." BCCI President Anurag Thakur wants to expand the cricket in the USA and other nations where cricket is not popular and that's why we may expect that Amazon, Facebook, Twitter and ESPN Digital Media may win the digital rights. Digital rights divided in two parts
  • 2018 to 2022 seasons in relation to the Indian Subcontinent Digital Rights Package
  • 2018 to 2022 seasons in relation to the Rest of the World (ROW) Media Rights Package
For the Broadcast rights in India Star and Sony will goes head to head for the bidding and we expect the shocking figure when BCCI announced the official broadcaster of IPL for next 10 years.
